Alyssa Valdez says Creamline can’t rest on their laurels against Army

Creamline team captain Alyssa Valdez believes that consistency is the key that will help the Cool Smashers in beating the battle-tested core of PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers.

“Labanan na ng consistency and puso sa latter part lalo na Army sila.

“They won’t just let down, they’ll keep the ball playing so we keep also fighting against them to win,” said Valdez, who tallied 12 markers, eight excellent digs and eight excellent receptions in Creamline’s four-set victory over the Lady Troopers.

PacificTown-Army gave the reigning champions a hard time in Game One.

Figuring in nip-and-tuck affairs in the first two sets, Creamline had to dig deep to deliver the set-clinching blows. The Cool Smashers even dropped the wire-to-wire third set before escaping the Lady Troopers in a surprising blowout in the fourth frame.2019-pvl-reinforced-conference-semis-game-1-creamline-def-pacifictown-army-alyssa-valdez Alyssa Valdez says Creamline can't rest on their laurels against Army News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

With a hard-earned win, the Cool Smashers are currently enjoying a one-game series advantage in the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference best-of-three semifinal series. Moreover, they are a win away from punching their tickets to the Finals.

Still, Valdez said that the Cool Smashers should not look too far ahead and just focus on the task at hand, which is Game Two on Saturday.

“We have to take it na parang same normal game,” the five-time V-League MVP bared. “We can’t pressure ourselves that we need to win but siyempre, we have to have that eagerness pa rin.

“It’s really the consistency that will bring us up to the Finals. And hopefully, it brings us back to the championship again.”
