Akari commits to become PVL member team

Akari Lightning & Technology Corporation has committed to becoming part of the PVL, becoming the 10th team that will take part in the country’s only professional volleyball league.

It’s a welcome development for the league as Akari is known as a staunch sports patron.

“We are glad to welcome Akari to our PVL family. It was three years ago when they first joined the PVL, supporting Adamson during the 2019 Collegiate Conference,” said Sports Vision president Ricky Palou. “They have been in volleyball for so long and it’s good to see them go into the professional ranks.”

“We are excited to join the PVL. For Akari, it feels like we are graduating college since we are entering the pros,” said Akari sports director Russell Balbacal. “For years, we have been supporting grassroots and collegiate teams. We feel like this is the right time to go a level higher.”

Back in 2016, Akari backed Adamson’s men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and pep squads. The company also organized the Akari Cup, a youth volleyball tournament.

Three years later, the team backed the Adamson Lady Falcons that won the Collegiate Conference.

Akari though is still in the process of building its squad with the help of team manager Mozzy Ravena.2019-PVL-Collegiate-Conference-Adamson-def-UST-Louie-Romero Akari commits to become PVL member team News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Ang instruction sa amin is to form the best team possible. We are out to form a championship-caliber team in the shortest possible time,” said Balbacal.

The team is looking to take its time in building its team.

With the reach of the PVL, Akari is confident that joining the league will not only help promote their advocacies but also the brand itself.

“We are excited because this will be a huge boost to our brand and will really help our marketing campaigns,” said Balbacal.
