Jeremy Miado hasn’t lost hope for career redemption

Jeremy Miado is no stranger to adversity, and he finds himself in a familiar situation as he prepares to lock horns with Hiroba Minowa this weekend.

The 31-year-old Albay native squares off with the No. 4-ranked strawweight MMA contender from Japan in a three-round duel at ONE Fight Night 23.

The fight takes place at the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, this Saturday, July 6.

“The Jaguar” has faced tough times as of late, having lost his last three outings.

Despite his recent setbacks, Miado remains optimistic that he will discover a way to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

“I’ve been in tough spots before, and I’ve always managed to find a way out. This time won’t be any different,” he told Tiebreaker Times.

Many believe that Miado should have opted for an opponent with lesser risk to regain his footing. However, the Filipino hard-hitter is not one to back down from a big challenge.

“I know many think I should have taken an easier fight, but that’s not who I am as a fighter. I thrive on big challenges, and Minowa is one of the biggest in my division,” he expressed.

A victory over the Japanese would undoubtedly work wonders for Miado’s career trajectory, but he acknowledges the difficulty of the task ahead.

Interestingly, Minowa is also coming off three consecutive defeats, adding more intrigue to the matchup.

“There’s a lot on the line for both of us. We both need this win to get back on track,” Miado said.

“Minowa is a tough opponent, and it won’t be a walk in the park. But I am ready for whatever he wants to bring to the fight.”

Miado recognizes the significant implications of the upcoming encounter with Minowa.

With lineal champion Joshua Pacio sidelined due to an injury and the promotion soon to crown an interim titleholder between Jarred Brooks and Gustavo Balart, this bout is a must-win for both Miado and Minowa.

“There’s a lot at stake for both of us. We’re both hungry for a win, and we know what it means for our careers,” Miado stated.

While the odds may be stacked against him, Miado promises to rise to the occasion and prove that he belongs to stand among the elite of his division.

“I’ve faced numerous challenges before, and I’ve always come out stronger. I’m ready to give it my all and show everyone that my career isn’t beyond redemption,” he ended.
