Lord Aragorn de Vera is heading to a place only a few have had the opportunity to go.
The 20-year-old infielder from De La Salle University has been invited for a workout with MLB team Arizona Diamondbacks.
According to Green Batters head coach Joseph Orillana, De Vera is flying out of the country tomorrow.
Orillana is proud of his ward for getting the opportunity of a lifetime.
“I’m so happy for him and proud because one of my players is being given this kind of opportunity in his baseball career,” said Orillana, an all-time La Salle great.
“Opportunities like this are rare,” the decorated head coach added, noting that it was also his dream to play overseas.
“That’s why I told him, ‘Go and follow your dreams!’”
De Vera, a product of the proud Batangas baseball program, was pivotal in La Salle’s title run in UAAP Season 85 and second-place finish in Season 86.
A blue-chip recruit, he has also been called up to the Philippine National Baseball Team numerous times as a shortstop.
It will be a long road to get to the major leagues for the 5-foot-10 De Vera. Still, he will take a step never granted to anyone before him.
