When the going gets tough, Petro Gazz import Janisa Johnson knows that the rest of Angels will always have her back.
Sunday afternoon, this was the case for the 5-foot-8 hitter from America, as she struggled to get her bearings against the youthful Motolite.
“I know that today I wasn’t as valuable as I normally am,” Johnson lamented.
Averaging 18.5 points in their first two games, Johnson had a hard time throughout their third match. She finished with 13 points in a 69-minute long game.
With a sudden dip in her performance, fellow import Wilma Salas and the rest of the Angels stepped up to complete a sweep of Motolite.
“I’m happy they had my back, and I’m happy that everyone contributed to the win,” the product of California State University beamed.
“3-0 is always great.”
Moreover, the Angels have yet to drop a set this season.
Djanel Cheng oiled the Angels’ offense with her savvy sets and their other teammates held the fort defensively. Meanwhile, Salas finished with 25 points.
“They did great as always. In practice or in games, they always know what to do. I mean everyone always scores those points,” gushed Johnson.
“No matter if I’m out or anyone else, I can always trust that my teammates are always gonna have my back.”
