William Navarro’s rookie campaign with NorthPort only lasted for eight games.
The versatile 6-foot-6 forward was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament on his right knee.
The development was first reported by SPIN.ph and confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by Navarro himself.
Navarro, 25, was having a spectacular maiden campaign with the Batang Pier, averaging 14.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.0 steals per contest.
He tallied his career-high 29 points, 17 rebounds, and nine assists during NorthPort’s 112-97 win over Converge last November 20.
However, disaster struck last December 10 during their quarters matchup against Ginebra.
Navarro was key in NorthPort’s 21-6 start in Game 2.
However, Navarro fell while defending an attacking Jamie Malonzo at the 3:39-mark of the opening frame. He could not stand on his own and needed to be carried by his teammates to the dugout.
He did not return to the game, finishing with 10 points and two rebounds.
Navarro is still in high spirits, looking forward to a full recovery. Typical recovery time takes six to eight months.
