VTL: Paat, Santiago-Manabat play lim. minutes as Nakhon suffers sweep vs Diamond Food


Nakhon Ratchasima QminC succumbed to Diamond Food in straight sets, 17-25, 19-25, 15-25, in the 2021-22 Volleyball Thailand League, Wednesday at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

Both Filipina imports Mylene Paat and Dindin Santiago-Manabat were used sparingly in the match that lasted just 1 hour and 23 minutes.

Paat was held to a season-low two points after erupting for 22 points in their face-off last December.

Manabat, meanwhile, got seven points in the losing cause, going 7-of-20 in her attempts.

Four players from the Diamond Food camp reached double digits led by Brazilian import Fernanda Tomé and Thanacha Sooksod with 14 points apiece. The former had four blocks and one ace, while the latter made three blocks and four aces.

Kaewkalaya Kamulthala chipped in 11 points, including seven in the third set, while Sasipaphon Janthawisut added 10 points to her name.

Patcharaporn Sittisad was the lone Nakhon Ratchasima player in double figures with 10 points.

Nakhon Ratchasima slipped to an even 5-5 win-loss record, still at fourth place, but just a game behind Khonkaen Star for the third seed.

Meanwhile, Diamond Food improved to 9-1, still trailing the undefeated and lone tormentor Supreme Chonburi for the top spot.

In their first round encounter, Nakhon Ratchasima was able to snag a set but still bowed, 24-26, 25-23, 23-25, 15-25, last December.

Nakhon Ratchasima will play its penultimate match in the regular season on Saturday against Pro Flex at 6 pm.
