Alas Pilipinas may have ended its 2026 SEA V Cup Leg 1 campaign without a victory, but it still had something to celebrate as Alyssa Solomon was named the tournament’s Best Opposite Spiker on Sunday night.
Solomon’s individual accolade served as a fitting consolation for the Philippine side, which saw its four-tournament bronze medal streak come to an end after absorbing a 20-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 defeat to Indonesia.
The former National University standout finished with 13 points in the loss, as the Philippines missed the podium of the competition for the first time since 2023.
Solomon was one of the Philippines’ most consistent offensive weapons throughout the opening leg. She opened the tournament with 12 points in a 29-27, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19 defeat to Vietnam.

The former Osaka import then added 13 points as Alas Pilipinas pushed Thailand to a thrilling five-set match before eventually bowing, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-10.
Leading the tournament’s Dream Team was Tournament MVP and Best Outside Hitter Sasipaporn Janthawisut, who spearheaded Thailand’s unbeaten run in the opening leg.
Vietnam’s Vi Thi Nhu Quynh joined Janthawisut as the other Best Outside Hitter, while Indonesia’s Rara Maradanti and Thailand’s Kaewkalaya Kamulthala were named Best Middle Blockers.
Rounding out the Dream Team were Thailand’s Natthanicha Jaisaen (Best Setter) and Vietnam’s Nguyen Khan Dang (Best Libero).
