Long-time Board of Managing Directors member Jocelyn De Leon of the Far Eastern University has retired from the UAAP after 28 years of service.
“I was just enjoying my job since 1991, kahit noon na hindi pa gaano sa television ang UAAP. Yung experience, dealing with different board members of the other schools… Na-enjoy ko yung trabaho,” said De Leon after receiving a plaque during the high school tournament Wednesday at the Paco Arena.
UAAP president Em Fernandez, vice president Nong Calanog, and NU’s Nilo Ocampo bestowed the honor on her.
Having represented one of the league’s most successful collegiate sporting programs with a lot of pride, De Leon will also have her “lasting legacy” in the UAAP, among which are the rules they made during her term in the Board.
“Mayroon kaming mga rules na nabuo sa UAAP, yung mga na-formulate namin na eligibility rules for the players na up to now, nagagamit pa rin although may mga revisions na,” De Leon shared.
Despite retiring from the league, De Leon will remain as FEU’s Administrative and Services Manager.
Before UP’s first game in the Basketball Tournament, Ronualdo Dizer also received a citation for his seven years of service. Meanwhile, UE’s Ms. Carmelita Mateo is set to be honored later this month for her 12 years in the league.
FEU athletic director Mark Molina replaced De Leon on the BMD.
