After his San Miguel Beermen finished seventh in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup eliminations, it set them up with a quarterfinal meeting with the Batang Pier, the second-seeded team.
However, Romeo’s reunion with the team where he started his pro career back in 2013 did not go too well.
During the fourth quarter, the league’s former three-time scoring champion got into a heated exchange with his former teammate Nico Elorde.
It began with a pesky defense from the point guard out of Ateneo.
Romeo found it hard to regain his cool afterwards, as he committed back-to-back fouls on Elorde. One while driving hard to the basket, then another on the other side of the court when he tried to be as pesky as his counterpart.
His SMB coaches then pulled him out after that defensive foul, as Romeo appeared to have flashed a dirty finger to somebody from the stand.
Romeo, however, downplayed the incident with Elorde, saying that it’s all part of the game. And the 27-year-old from FEU vowed that he will be more mature when handling rough situations from here on.
“For me, lahat sa court lang ako.
Kapagka may ganung situation, siyempre meron talagang ganung pagkakataon,” the fiery 27-year-old guard continued.
