Fresh from one of his biggest wins as a mixed martial artist, Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang is excited about the tough challenges waiting for him in his martial arts journey.
Adiwang scored another highlight-reel victory last February after knocking out Alber Correia “Magayver” Da Silva of Brazil in the first round of their three-round catchweight (58.4kg) encounter at ONE Warrior Series 4 in Singapore.
This was Adiwang’s second impressive first-round victory since joining the ONE Warrior Series roster, which started with his thunderous knockout of American Jose Manuel “Tick” Huerta at ONE Warrior Series 3 in Singapore last October.
The Filipino hard-hitter said that his success is merely a reflection of his hard work with Team Lakay.
“I’m just so happy because all of our hard work in training is showing off and I’m making a splash in the ONE Warrior Series,” said Adiwang.
“My team always pushes me to my limits and they make sure I come in prepared,” he added.
“They also show me the things that I need to work on to become better.”
The 26-year-old Baguio City native also shared that being surrounded by World Champions inside the gym has given him more motivation to succeed in the sport.
“It’s such a huge help for me to be surrounded by World Champions during training because they’re on a different level. My improvements are faster,” said Adiwang.
“I always look up to my seniors from coach Mark Sangiao, Eduard Folayang, Geje Eustaquio and the rest of the team. They’re all helping and guiding me to be a better athlete.”
After starting the year on a high note, Adiwang pointed out that his scintillating triumph last February is just the beginning of more positive things to come.
He hopes that one day, he gets a shot at the main roster – and maybe, a World Title.
“I’m just thankful to all our fans who are always supporting us. It only motivates me more to train better for the next bouts,” said Adiwang.
“I have a bout scheduled once again this year and I’ll certainly do my best to get the win and get myself closer to my dreams.”
