Colegio de San Juan de Letran head coach Bonnie Tan expressed his excitement to be back in the NCAA Seniors Basketball Finals for the third straight time.
The Knights continued their Finals appearance streak which dates all the way back to Season 95.
“Syempre masaya. Thank you Lord na we’ve given a chance to play again in the Finals,” expressed the soft-spoken Knights head coach.
“Yung three-peat secondary syempre, nandyan yung bonus pag nanalo, pero kami naman we take our game day-by-day, kung sino lang yung ano. We’re not thinking about yung mga sweep sweep dyan. Basta kami, kung ano yung binigay samin e yun lang,” he continued.
“We’re happy at least nakatungtong ulit kami sa Finals.”
This time, however, they are set to match up against a historic College of St. Benilde team that has not seen the big stage for two decades already.
The Knights, meanwhile, are already familiar with the bright lights of the NCAA Finals.
That is why the two-time champion coach is excited to face a new foe.
“Excited din kami makalaban ang CSB sa finals dahil first time nila after a long years na absent sila sa finals. So sana mabigyan natin ng magandang laban ang CSB.”
Earlier, Blazers head coach Charles Tiu revealed that he is expecting Letran to fill the last remaining spot in the Finals as they are the most experienced team in the field.
Moreover, the Blazers have unfinished business against the Knights.
Tan, on the other hand, is nothing but glad that it all end-up this way.
“He has the right naman na magsalita ng ganun and [if] ayun ang wish niya, at least nandito naman tayo,” said Tan.
But still, he emphasized that they will not go too confident against St. Benilde — after all, they are the number one team in the league.
“Number one team yung CSB so mindset pa din namin is dehado side [kami].”
