NCAA 98: Perps’ Dupol, Banares go 3-0 to open women’s beach volley


University of Perpetual Help System DALTA started off strong to open its NCAA Season 98 Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday at Subic, Zambales after finishing 3-0 on opening day.

The Lady Altas who are composed of Mary Rhose Dupol and Janine Padua went unbeaten, sweeping all three of their matches against College of St. Benilde (21-12, 21-14), Colegio de San Juan de Letran (21-15, 21-16), and Jose Rizal University (21-8, 21-12).

Also unblemished was Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Cathrine Almazan and Monna Banares who played two games, sweeping JRU (21-14, 21-14) and Arellano University (21-10, 21-12).

Lara Silva and Chamberlaine Cunada of Letran went 2-1 highlighted with a win against the defending champion San Beda University (21-18, 21-17), while Wielyn Estoque and Jessa Dorog of St. Benilde also finished with 2-1.

Teams who are sitting at .500 are Mapua University’s Francine Macatangay and Raina Vergino; San Sebastian College-Recoletos’ Katherine Santos and Kristine Dionisio, and San Beda University Trisha Paras and Maxine Tayag.

Meanwhile, Lyceum of the Philippines University’s Joan Doguna and Ritanhelle Perez and Arellano University’s Harem Ceballos and Alona Caguilla went winless with 0-2 slates, while Jose Rizal University’s  Karyla Jasareno and Marianne Alona sits at the last spot with a 0-3 record.

Action continues tomorrow at 7:30 AM still in Subic, Zambales.
