Ateneo de Manila University will continue its buildup for UAAP Season 89 with its toughest competition yet.
The Blue Eagles will take on NCAA powerhouse College of Saint Benilde in the Sweet 16 of the Pinoyliga Big Dance on Sunday.
Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM, with tickets available at the venue booth.
There will also be some bad blood heading into the contest.
Days after Ateneo defeated Our Lady of Fatima University last Sunday to advance, Jhomel Ancheta made a social media post directed at OLFU’s Edward Labayen, a longtime friend of his.
“Ipasa mo pre Edward Labayen,” Ancheta wrote in his post.
During the Ateneo-OLFU clash, Labayen was seen repeatedly trash-talking Jared Bahay, and Ancheta appeared willing to continue the exchange.
Strict protocols will remain in place for Ateneo during the game.
The Blue Eagles, however, will be without Shawn Tuano and Andrew Bongo, who are currently with Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 for the FIBA 3×3 Nations League-Asia Southeast Asia Conference.
