Aggrieved parties Taine Davis and Jimboy Pasturan have filed a complaint against Jose Rizal University’s John Amores on Friday at the San Juan City’s Prosecutor’s Office.
Moments before their game against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in NCAA Season 98, the two, who were accompanied by head coach Charles Tiu, signed numerous documents that will be served to Amores later in the day.
These are two counts of serious physical injury.
In an interview with GMA Sports’ Bea Micaller, Tiu said that though they have already forgiven Amores, filing a case was necessary.
“For us, it’s just an unfortunate incident that we felt could have been avoided if they were able to keep emotions in check,” said Tiu. “Kami, we felt that it’s a game won for us. Tapos na sana, none of this should have happened, but there’s this one guy who went punching. I guess that’s part of life and basketball.
“I’m just thankful that no one else got hurt,” he continued.
“As disappointing as it is, we asked the team to learn to forgive. We still must make the actions that need to be done.”
Last Tuesday with 3:22 left and the Blazers up 71-51 against the Heavy Bombers, Amores went on a blind rampage, hitting numerous CSB players, including Pasturan and Davis.
The game was eventually abandoned.
The NCAA suspended a total of 14 players, including an indefinite ban on Amores.
Amores also has a case in Quezon City for serious physical injury which was filed by University of the Philippines-commit Mark Belmonte.
