T1: Gavina gets breakthrough win with Taichung, stuns New Taipei

A day after absorbing an embarrassing debut, Chris Gavina got a big fish.

Gavina steered Taichung to a 112-109 escape of erstwhile-unbeaten New Taipei in the 2022-23 T1 League Season, Sunday at New Taiwan University of Sport Gymnasium.

The Suns got a perfect balance in scoring compared to their loss to the Kaohsiung Aquas yesterday as five players scored in double-figures.

Diamond Stone led the Suns with 29 points, seven rebounds, and six assists while Tony Bishop got 24 points and 10 rebounds. Aaron Geramipoor also added 14 points and 10 rebounds from off-the-bench duties.

A couple of locals also stepped up as Chen Wenghung produced 14 points on four treys while special foreign student-athlete Bayasgalan Delgerchuluun of HDUT finished with 12 points.

Edgaras Zelionis and Mohammad Al Bachir Gadiaga led the way for the CTBC DEA with 25 and 24 points, respectively. Kristjan Krajina added 22 points from off the bench.

Lin Weihan added 21 points and 11 assists as he was the sole local who delivered for New Taipei.

Gavina and Taichung will head to University of Taipei Gym on November 13 to take on TaiwanBeer.
