Shiga has released Ovie Soko heading into their game against Mikawa this weekend.
Still, the British big man is grateful for the time he spent with the Lakestars. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to represent the wonderful region of Shiga.
“I would especially like to thank all the boosters for doing their best for me and the club while I was in Shiga. I am really grateful to everyone who supported me and my teammates, both good and bad,” continued Soko, who averaged 20.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 23 games played.
“I think it’s always a sad moment to say goodbye, see you again! May you go in the right direction.”
Replacing Soko is Worth Smith.
Smith started the year with Kyoto before signing with Nagoya. He then played for B3 team Chiba.
According to Lakestars head coach Luis Guil Torres, Smith is a good three-point shooter and has excellent one-on-one skills.
He makes his debut tomorrow against the Seahorses at 12:05PM (Manila time).
