B.League: Juan GDL sees limited minutes as Yamagata gets back at Tokyo Z

Juan Gomez de Liaño and Tokyo Z could not carry over the momentum from their win yesterday, suffering a 62-77 loss to Yamagata in the 2021-22 B.League Division II tournament, Tuesday at Omori Sports Center.

With Earthfriends up by three with 3:37 left in the third canto, Shunto Murakami sparked a 15-0 spurt that bridged the final two quarters to gain a 63-51 lead.

Tokyo Z could not get back after that. Yamagata’s lead would grow to as high as 17 points, 77-60, following a drive by Murakami with 43 ticks remaining.

Tokyo Z has yet to notch a streak this season. They fall to 2-15 in the standings.

The Wyverns, who went up to 11-6, were led by the 15 points each of Orlando Sanchez and Jawad Williams. Sanchez also got six rebounds, two blocks, and two assists.

Meanwhile, Murakami added 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting.

Joshua Crawford paced Tokyo Z with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting with nine rebounds. Eddy Norelia had 17 points and nine rebounds.

Gomez de Liaño only saw nine minutes in the game, tallying two points and a rebound.

Gomez de Liaño will meet Kemark Cariño this weekend when Tokyo Z heads to Aomori.
