Jamie Malonzo has found a second lease on life in Japan.
The 6-foot-7 winger has signed with Earthfriends Tokyo Z, which earned promotion to the B.League for the 2026-27 season.
It has been a long wait for Malonzo, who was released by the Kyoto Hannaryz after appearing in just four games last season.
Now, he is set for another opportunity in Japan’s top professional league.

“I’m incredibly blessed and grateful to begin this new chapter of my journey with Earthfriends Tokyo Z. It’s an honor to join a club with such passionate fans and a strong vision for the future,” said Malonzo.
“I’m excited to get to Tokyo, meet my teammates, coaches, and everyone who supports this organization. I can’t wait to compete at the highest level, give everything I have every single day, and do my part to help bring success to the team. See you all soon—let’s make this a special season together!”
After parting ways with Barangay Ginebra in 2025, Malonzo signed with the Hannaryz.
However, his stint with Kyoto was short-lived, as he played in just four games and averaged 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds.
Malonzo regained his footing by helping lead the Philippines to the gold medal in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games alongside Thirdy Ravena, who is also returning to the B.League this season with Toyama.
He now joins Earthfriends Tokyo Z, which secured promotion to the B.League after spending the past several seasons in the second division.
