B.League: Kai tallies double-double, sends Kiefer’s Shiga close to danger zone

Kai Sotto dominated in Hiroshima’s 99-88 win over Kiefer Ravena and Shiga in the 2022-23 B.League season, Wednesday at Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall.

Sotto tallied 14 points, 12 rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal in just 24 minutes of action, towing the Dragonflies to a 39-15 record — just a game behind Tokyo for the fourth seed.

Supporting Sotto were Nick Mayo, who dropped 20 points, and Dwayne Evans II, who registered 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Tough was the loss for the Lakes as they fell to a 13-41 record — just a full game behind Toyama for bottom two in the league. The bottom two teams after the regular season will be relegated to B2.

Kiefer tallied nine points and eight assists in the loss.

Fortunately for Kiefer, his brother Thirdy and San-En defeated the Grouses, 105-94, at Toyama City Gymnasium.

Thirdy finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists, helping the NeoPhoenix go up to 21-33.

Matthew Wright, meanwhile, cooled down but Kyoto was still able to take a 92-88 win over Osaka at Edion Arena Osaka.

Coming off multiple 20-point outings, Wright only tallied five points and five assists but the Hannaryz still hiked their record to 20-34 while dropping the Evassa to a 24-30 slate.

Dwight Ramos, on the other hand, scattered four points, four rebounds, and four assists in Hokkaido’s 53-62 defeat to Utsunomiya at Brex Arena Utsunomiya.

The Levanga fell to 16-38 while the Brex evened their record to 27-27.

Both Carl Tamayo and Bobby Ray Parks Jr. were DNPs for Ryukyu and Nagoya, respectively.
