Sherwin Meneses deflects credit to players, deputies for reaching PVL milestone

It’s all in the name — SherWIN Meneses.

And winning has been his trademark ever since taking over as the head coach of Creamline in the Premier Volleyball League.

On Tuesday, Meneses reached a significant milestone that further cemented his legacy as the winningest coach in PVL history.

Creamline’s commanding 25-10, 27-25, 25-21 victory over Chery Tiggo in Game 1 of their best-of-three quarterfinal series in the 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference marked Meneses’ 100th career win in the PVL as a head coach.

He achieved this remarkable feat in just three years and a day after collecting his first victory on March 17, 2022 — a 25-16, 25-18, 25-22 triumph over PLDT that launched the Cool Smashers’ Open Conference campaign that year.

In those three years, Meneses’ Creamline squad has only suffered 15 defeats, giving him an impressive 86.9% winning percentage.

Despite reaching this historic milestone, Meneses remains focused on what truly matters — winning championships.

“Ayun masaya at na-achieve yung 100 wins pero sana mas marami pang panalo na dumating, especially this season, this conference na madagdagan yung panalo pa, especially sa mga next games namin,” said the soft-spoken tactician.

Meneses also holds the PVL record for the most championships as a head coach with seven titles to his name.

His winning touch has extended to the UAAP, where he currently steers National University in the women’s volleyball competition. So far, his stint with the Lady Bulldogs has been flawless, resulting in a dominant 7-0 first-round sweep.

But for Meneses, coaching is a constant pursuit of growth and development.

“Doon lang naman ako nagfo-focus palagi. So, hopefully, magtuloy-tuloy and mag-improve pa palagi ‘yung team na hinahawakan ko. Mababait naman talaga sila, so masusunurin naman. Kailangan ‘yung chemistry ng coaches and players okay talaga,” he shared.
