Sean Anthony finally saw action for NorthPort in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Saturday evening.
The versatile 6-foot-4 forward sat out the Batang Pier’s first three games in the season-ending meet, as he recovered from the surgery he underwent shortly after the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup, to remove bone spurs in his ankle.
“First time playing five-on-five since last conference,” said Anthony, who only joined team practices this Friday.
The nine-year pro received a rude welcome, though, as the Batang Pier lost to the Blackwater Elite, 98-107.
NorthPort absorbed their third consecutive loss and dropped to 1-3 in the standings.
“We had some lapses on the offensive end and they exploited those,” lamented Anthony, whose side went down by as many as 18 points twice in the final frame before their late-game rally. “They outplayed us, so they got the W.”
Still, Anthony feels good to have finally returned. And he now looks to regain his form to better help NorthPort.
“It’s good to get up and down and play full court,” said Anthony, who had six points, eight rebounds, and five assists in the loss. “I got some rhythm hopefully going into the next game… Get my lungs going, and play a little better.
“I got to step up and get back and be ready for the next game.”
