The Sarangani 10ACT Marlins leaned on Leland Estacio’s hot shooting in the second half to defeat the Negros Hacienderos, 108-102, and snap a 12-game losing streak on Wednesday in the MPBL 2026 Season at One Arena Cainta in Rizal Province.
Estacio scored 23 points, including 10 each in the third and fourth quarters, to power the Marlins to just their second win in 15 games.
He also tallied four rebounds, one assist, and one block to earn Best Player of the Game honors over Carl Bryan Lacap, who finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals; and Ralph Tansingco, who added 18 points and six rebounds.
Danny Marilao also came through for Sarangani, posting 12 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists as the Marlins erased a 54-63 deficit in the third quarter. Larce Sunga chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
Tansingco buried a three-pointer with 1:06 remaining to give Sarangani a 107-98 cushion, effectively sealing the victory and handing Negros its 12th loss in 13 games.
The Hacienderos were led by Reymar Caduyac with 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Lorenz Viajar and Michael Alvarez each scored 17 points, with Viajar adding three rebounds and three assists, while Alvarez contributed six rebounds and two assists. Rev Diputado finished with 10 points, six assists, and two rebounds, while Jebb Bulawan added 10 points and five rebounds.
In the second game, the Marikina Shoemasters pulled away late to edge the Valenzuela City Darkhorse, 88-83.
Trailing by just one, 84-83, Valenzuela threatened to steal the game before Regie Boy Basibas answered with a short jumper. Jethro Escoto then knocked down two free throws with 5.7 seconds left to seal the victory.
The win improved Marikina’s record to 6-10 in the round-robin elimination phase, keeping its playoff hopes alive in the 27-team, two-division tournament.
The 6-foot-4 Basibas, a former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tiger, finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists to earn Best Player of the Game honors. Escoto also starred with 23 points, including 15 in the third quarter, along with four assists, three steals, and two rebounds.
Jordan Sta. Ana contributed 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Jason Strait and Alvin Pasaol added eight points apiece.
Valenzuela dropped to an even 8-8 despite 22 points, three rebounds, and two assists from Shaq Alanes. CJ Alattica added 20 points and three rebounds, Angelo Obuyes had 13 points and two rebounds, while Ian Melencio finished with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The tournament resumes on Thursday at the Batangas City Coliseum, with Biñan taking on Bulacan at 4:00 PM, Basilan facing Zamboanga at 6:00 PM, and Meycauayan-Marilao battling Batangas at 8:00 PM.
