S2G Esports stuns Selangor Red Giants with upset victory in M6 Worlds

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

S2G Esports (Turkey) shocked reigning MSC and MPL Malaysia champions Selangor Red Giants with a remarkable 1-0 victory in their opening match at the M6 World Championships on Thursday at the IOI Grand Exhibition & Convention Center in Malaysia.

The match began with S2G dominating the early minutes, as Şiyar “Sigibum” Akbulut’s Bruno put the Malaysian squad under heavy pressure.

The Red Giants struggled to find their footing and establish control on the map.

A pivotal moment came at the 10:29 mark when Hazziq “Stormie” Rizwan (playing Valentina) turned the tide for SRG with a perfectly timed “I Am Offended” ultimate in the mid-lane, giving the Red Giants a much-needed advantage.

As the game progressed into the late stages, Sigibum became the biggest threat for SRG, taking down the Lord at the 17:33 mark. S2G then pushed straight through the mid and bottom lanes, securing the win minutes later.

The 18-year-old Turkish gold laner delivered an outstanding performance, finishing with a KDA of three kills, one death, and seven assists.

In the second match of the day, Ziameth-Jei “ZIA” Caluya’s BloodThirstyKings (North America) secured a 1-0 win against Wild Card winners ULFHEDNAR (Turkey).

ZIA (Granger) finished with an impressive KDA of three kills, two deaths, and 10 assists in a game that lasted 24 minutes and 35 seconds, with a 22-12 kill score.

In another exciting match, NIP Flash (Singapore), led by Jaymark “Hadess” Lazaro and Jankurt “KurtTzy” Matira, fell short against CFU Gaming (Cambodia), who emerged victorious in the best-of-one series.

Elsewhere, Team Spirit (CIS), Twisted Minds (Saudi Arabia), and RRQ Hoshi (Indonesia) secured victories, defeating Maycam Evolve (Argentina), Kenneth “Nets” Barro’s Team Vamos (Malaysia), and Kenneth “Saxa” Fedelin’s KeepBest Gaming (China), respectively.
