Robert Bolick will be out for six long months after suffering a partial tear to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, NorthPort team manager Bonnie Tan confirmed.
“Robert Bolick suffered a partial ACL tear in his last game against SMB,” Tan said in a statement.
Bolick got hurt with 8:06 remaining in NorthPort’s 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup meeting with powerhouse team San Miguel last Wednesday following an aggressive drive to the hoop.
It took him a while before getting back up. The 24-year-old guard did not return to the game afterwards. He finished with nine points, six assists, three rebounds, and a block in over 24 minutes of play.
Bolick still managed to stay on the bench and witnessed the Batang Pier stun the Beermen, 127-119.
The prolific rookie out of San Beda will undergo surgery on Thursday morning at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, with the renowned Dr. Raul Canlas.
“To address the ACL tear, Bolick opted to go through surgery rather than rehab to ensure full recovery,” Tan said.
“The Batang Pier Team will play without him for the next six months.”
Bolick will miss not just the whole Governors’ Cup — where he’s norming 12.8 points, 6.0 dimes, and 5.0 boards — but the chance to play for Gilas 3×3 in the Southeast Asian Games as well.
