Risa Sato moves to Chery Tiggo after successful stint with Creamline

Nearly two months after parting ways with Creamline, three-time Best Middle Blocker Risa Sato has officially joined Chery Tiggo for the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

The Crossovers announced the news via social media on Wednesday afternoon, just days before the PVL resumes action following the holiday break.

Sato was not included in the Cool Smashers’ lineup for the All-Filipino tournament but will be eligible to suit up for Chery Tiggo when they face Petro Gazz on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.

The 5-foot-9 middle blocker will be a welcome addition to a strong Chery Tiggo team, currently in fourth place with a 4-2 record. Sato will reinforce the Crossovers’ middle blocker rotation, which includes Aby Maraño, Pauline Gaston, Czarina Carandang, and Seth Rodriguez.

On November 8, the Cool Smashers announced that Sato requested a release following a successful year with the team, which culminated in their historic Grand Slam victory. Creamline granted her request for early contract termination, with her deal originally set to expire in December.

The 11-time PVL champion spent six years with the Cool Smashers, playing in 13 conferences and winning 10 of her 11 championships with the team.
