The sooner, the better.
That’s how TNT feels now while awaiting the PBA’s decision on the proposed three-team trade that would land vastly-improved big man Poy Erram to the flagship MVP franchise.
“We await for that moment, sana sooner the better,” said KaTropa team governor Ricky Vargas Tuesday moments after the league’s press conference ahead of the 45th season at Conrad Hotel, Pasay.
The papers of the deal — which also involves NLEX and Blackwater — were sent the league’s office last February 17. Now, a week has gone by, but the trade committee has not yet made a decision.
The last development of the trade happened last week also, where the committee sought a revision of the deal by asking the KaTropa to include more future draft picks.
TNT has thrown center Yousef Taha into the mix along with three future picks, according to a report by Spin.ph.
Asked regarding concerns that the deal could be completely rejected, Vargas said that it may happen. Still, he added that he has never experienced the trade committee rejecting a trade.
“There’s a possibility that they reject it. There’s a possibility that they accept with some changes.
“But my experience with the trade committee is they have not disapproved of any trade, they just improve on the trade on how they view it as fair to everybody,” said Vargas, who’s also the PBA chair.
The KaTropa cannot wait to have Erram on board, especially with the new season about to unfold and they are doing their best to build up as much as they can.
“One of our biggest challenges at Talk N Text as it is now is building chemistry, building teamwork, and being on the same page,” said Vargas as TNT debuts on March 11 versus Phoenix Pulse
“The more time we wait, the less time we have for him to integrate with the team.”
But as badly as they want the trade approved, Vargas and the KaTropa are also exercising patience.
“Gusto sana namin matapos kaagad, but we are patient and we need to follow the rules,” he said.
“As Talk N Text, we value going through the process. That’s important to us, as well as the outcome.”
