Ribo takes hiatus from MPL grind

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang GOAT is taking a break from the professional scene.

On Sunday night, Bren Esports veteran CJ “Ribo” Ribo announced that he will be taking a temporary break in the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Nine.

“Pahinga muna isang season sa MPL. Good luck,” said the decorated sidelaner in a Facebook post.

It will be a huge blow for the M2 World Champions, who already lost star Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno and veteran Efphraim “Ejhay” Sambrano during the off-season.

Ribo already hinted about taking a break after Bren Esports’ monumental win on the world stage.

The 26-year-old sidelaner, though, postponed his plans and played for two more seasons for Bren Esports.

The past two seasons saw the Bernard Chong-owned franchise crash out of contention, falling to fourth place in Season Seven before eventually missing the playoffs in Season Eight.

With Ribo taking a leave of absence, Bren Esports still has a respectable core led by up-and-coming EXP laner David “FlapTzy” Canon.

Still with the squad are Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, Allan “Lusty” Castromayor, Muj “Malik” Malik, and Mico “Coco” Sampang.

Tiebreaker Times already reached out to Bren Esports to confirm Ribo’s announcement but has yet to get a response as of posting time.
