Amidst a winless three-week stretch in the MPL Philippines Season 13, Carlito “Ribo” Ribo Jr. has been posting positive messages on his social media.
It seems that this positivity slowly influenced the team, culminating in a breakthrough win over TNC Pro Team.
Ribo acknowledges that this was a deliberate effort on his part to address the team’s mindset, which had been affected by continuous losses.
“Gusto ko lang din mamo-motive sila kasi lose streak na kami eh. Tapos parang nakikita ko sa mga kakampi ko tsaka sa management na parang nada-down sila. Parang nawawalan na agad ng pag-asa. Lagi kong naririnig na ‘Bawi na lang next season.’ Parang laruin na lang yung MPL, i-enjoy na lang,” he explained.
“Eh sa tingin ko, feeling ko double effort lang din eh. Tapos more practice pa. Kaya naman din namin manalo eh. Nakakasabay pa naman.”
His efforts did not go unnoticed, as jungler John Paul “H2wo” Salonga acknowledged how Ribo’s posts had impacted his mindset, ultimately leading to a win.

“Binabasa ko rin tapos inaapply ko sa sarili ko yung mga pinopost niya. Malaking tulong din,” H2wo said.
Even newcomer Jayson “U K I R” Calupit felt empowered by Ribo’s posts.
“Nakakagaan ng loob,” said U K I R when asked about the impact of Ribo’s positivity posts.
“Mahilig din kasi ako mag-share ng mga quotes eh kapag nakikita ko yung kay Doc (Ribo). Pero ‘di ko ine-expect na sa kanya manggagaling. Nakita ko na lang na pinopost niya. Natutuwa ako tas gumagaan yung loob. Parang may positive thinking sa team namin.”
It remains to be seen if Omega can successfully make a massive turnaround as they currently sit seventh in the standings.
However, Ribo’s online initiatives will undoubtedly contribute as the team tries to avoid early elimination.
