MPL PH: Smart Omega secures first back-to-back wins with thrilling win over Team Falcons

Smart Omega secured their first back-to-back wins of the season with a 2-1 triumph over cellar-dwelling Team Falcons PH in Week 6 of MPL Philippines Season 16 on Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.

The victory brought Omega a step closer to the playoffs, improving their record to 5-6, just behind fourth-place Twisted Minds (5-5).

In Game 1, Czedrick “SUPER YOSHI” Romero (Grock) executed a two-man Tectonic Charge set-up that allowed James “Jeymz” Gloria (Uranus) to score a double kill off the 16th-minute lord fight.

His crowd control during the ensuing base turret siege led to two more unanswered pickoffs, giving Omega the opening victory.

With their playoff hopes on the line, Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel (Zhuxin) took over in Game 2, scoring a double kill during the 15th-minute lord dance as Team Falcons secured a 3-for-1 exchange.

Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo’s (Grock) Earthen Rampart then caught Kenneth “Netskie” Barro (Claude), a decisive play that led to Team Falcons’ series-equalizing base turret siege.

In Game 3, Salik “Hadji” Imam (Valentina) teamed up with Jeymz (Uranus) to pick off Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano (Moskov) from the backline during the 20th-minute lord dance. With Team Falcons’ formation collapsing, Netskie (Karrie) scored a double kill, completing three unanswered kills as Smart Omega forced their way to victory.

Team Falcons PH remained at the bottom with a 2-9 record, needing to sweep all remaining matches for a chance at a playoff spot.
