Reyland Torres turned in a clutch performance as San Juan pulled away for a 65-59 win over Caloocan in the 2026 MPBL Preseason Invitational at a packed Paco Arena.
Torres finished with 12 points, including seven in the decisive fourth quarter, earning best player honors over Orlan Wamar, who contributed 12 points, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds.
Former Perpetual Help standout Patrick Sleat added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals, helping San Juan stage a 14-4 run in the fourth after trailing 48-47 at the end of the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Caloocan drew 12 points and 4 rebounds from Eric Camson, and 10 points from Jammer Jamito, all coming in the second quarter.
The Knights’ victory allowed them to tie idle Quezon Huskers atop Group B.
In Group A action, the Batangas City Tanduay Rum Masters rolled past the Mindoro Tamaraws, 88-58, for their second straight win.
Batangas took control after three quarters, leading 67-42, and extended it to 74-42 in the fourth.
Cedric Ablaza led the charge with 20 points and 5 rebounds, Jhan Nermal added 18 points and 8 boards, Rhinwill Yambing posted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Abdul Sawat chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Wendelino Comboy also contributed 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
Mindoro, dominated on the boards 63-41, saw JC Recto score 15 points with 5 rebounds, JJ Caspe put up 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Fil-Am Ashon Andrews added 10 points with 5 boards.
Binan Tatak Gel bounced back from an opening loss by defeating the debuting Gensan Warriors, 83-74, behind Nic Cabanero’s 14 points and 5 rebounds.
Jaymar Gimpayan had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Michael Mabulac added 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Binan dominated the glass 44-33 and scored 46 points in the paint. Gensan’s top contributors were Ralph Tansingco (17 points, 2 rebounds), Joshua Moralejo (14 points), and Eloie Tan (13 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds).
