That is the mindset Sarangani 10ACT is carrying into the final two games of its 2026 MPBL Season after another tough loss put its play-in hopes on the line.
The Marlins fell to the Quezon City Black Bulls, 107-95, on Monday evening, despite staying within striking distance for most of the game before the Black Bulls pulled away in the final quarter.
Team captain Migs Pascual lamented the missed opportunities that ultimately cost Sarangani the game.
“We fought hard and we were right there for three quarters, but we just couldn’t finish the game the way we wanted to. It hurts because we know we had a chance, but we have to learn from this and move forward,” said Pascual.
The defeat dropped Sarangani to 3-20, leaving the Marlins tied with Imus at 10th place and the final play-in spot.
Despite the setback, Pascual chose to focus on the positives, particularly the team’s improved performances in recent games.
Pascual himself provided a spark from beyond the arc, scoring all 15 of his points on three-pointers while also dishing out three assists.
Leland Estacio paced the Marlins with 28 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Alex Desoyo chipped in 16 points and eight assists. Carlo Escalambre and Andrei Duremdes added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
“We’re hoping we can carry the good things we’ve shown in these games into the last two. We know what’s at stake, and we have to bring the same energy because there’s no tomorrow for us,” Pascual said.
Sarangani will get its next chance to keep its postseason hopes alive against Gensan on September 14 before facing fellow play-in contender Imus on September 21.
With both games carrying major implications for the standings, Pascual knows the Marlins have no room for error.
“We just have to give everything we have. We can’t look too far ahead anymore. We have two games left, and we have to treat both as our last game.”
