It’s onward and upward for Raymond Almazan.
The Meralco veteran is choosing to move forward from the recent controversy that saw him hog the headlines for the wrong reasons.
“I want to let it go,” he said.
His only aim now is focusing on helping the Bolts, just as he did on Sunday to stay in the Season 48 Philippine Cup quarterfinal race.
Almazan finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds without a single turnover as Meralco shackled Magnolia for their second win in a row.
It was a solid bounce-back after mustering just three points, four rebounds, and a block in their 82-76 win over Phoenix last Friday.
That was actually his first game back after his one-game suspension by the PBA following an attempt to bribe a traffic enforcer at the EDSA Busway.
The 34-year-old forward admitted that the issue affected him.
“Medyo nakaapekto kasi iniisip ko yung team namin, kasi I’m one of the veterans and I’m a co-cap,” the former Letran Knights star said.
But he had already issued a public apology, and now Almazan is all about showing how much he has learned from the incident.
“I’m not a perfect person. Lahat tayo nagkakamali. I said sorry already. I admit it talaga na that was a mistake,” said the 11-year pro.
“Kailangan ko mag-lead by example. I just wanted to show it today,” he added.
