PWNFT youth team standout Bea Luna, 16, passes away

After a battle with arteriovenous malformation (AVM), Philippine Girls’ National Football Team standout Celestina Beatrice Luna (July 31, 2003-May 26, 2020) quietly passed away, Tuesday.

She was just 16 years old.

A bubbly personality who was born and raised in Baguio City, Luna, who studies in Baguio City National High School, collapsed a few days ago and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Luna suffered from AVM, which is “an abnormal tangle of blood vessels connecting arteries and veins, which disrupts normal blood flow and oxygen circulation”.

The Pinay Futbol community called for prayers on Monday evening after she went into a coma.

“We’re going to ask everyone for a little extra today. Please pray for Bea Luna, an Under-15 player from Baguio who also featured in the AIA Philam Life 7’s Football League. Bea suddenly went into a coma so let’s wish for her to wake up soon,” the page’s statement read.

Tuesday morning, she was pronounced dead.

Luna was part of the national team that finished fourth in the 2019 AFF U-15 Girls Championship last May.
