PVL to field Creamline, Petro Gazz in AVC Champions League

Creamline and Petro Gazz will represent the Philippines in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League, PVL president and PNVF vice president Ricky Palou confirmed on Saturday night.

The Champions League, formerly known as the Asian Club Championship, will take place from April 20 to 27 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig, with the PVL and PNVF serving as local organizers.

The official draw is set for March 12 in Bangkok, Thailand.

As the host country, the Philippines has been granted two slots in the tournament, which will feature 12 club teams from across the region.

Initially, the All-Filipino Conference champion was supposed to be the country’s lone representative, but due to the draw being scheduled for March 12 in Bangkok, Thailand, the PVL decided to adjust the selection process.

Both Creamline and Petro Gazz finished the preliminary round with identical 10-1 records, with the Cool Smashers securing the top spot in the standings. This earned them the right to represent the country in the tournament.

“The AVC called us and said they need the teams right away. Kasi magda-drawing of lots on March 12, so we cannot wait until the end of the tournament,” Palou told reporters during the qualifying round match between Choco Mucho and Chery Tiggo.

“We talked to the teams and we said after the (preliminary) round, the top two will represent the Philippines, and that’s Creamline and Petro Gazz,” he added.

Both teams have already confirmed their participation and will be allowed to field up to three imports each for the competition.
