PVL: Farm Fresh roars back, dominates Capital1

Farm Fresh bounced back from a tough opening loss, dominating Capital1 in straight sets, 25-16, 25-18, 25-16, for its first win in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Thursday at the Philsports Arena.

Coming off a tight 34-36, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15 loss to Creamline last Saturday, the Foxies recovered and handed the Solar Spikers their second consecutive defeat to start the tournament.

“Super happy kasi nakuha namin ‘yung panalo ngayong conference na ‘to and alam namin na marami pa kaming tatrabahuhin,” said Farm Fresh team captain Louie Romero.

With the Foxies a set away from securing the game, Des Clemente scored on back-to-back attacks to help Capital1 slice a six-point deficit to just four, 15-19, but consecutive errors from Sydney Niegos and Pat Orendain allowed Farm Fresh to counter with a four-point swing, extending the lead to eight points.

Clemente stopped the bleeding with another quick attack, but Rizza Cruz ended the Solar Spikers’ hopes with consecutive quick attacks to finish the game.

“May mga konting mga lapses pa po pero yun po, alam namin na all throughout the conference is mapo-polish pa talaga namin,” said Foxies opposite spiker Trisha Tubu.

Tubu led the charge for Farm Fresh with 15 points on 12 attacks, two blocks, and one ace while Chinnie Arroyo added 11 markers built on 10 attacks in the one-hour, 18-minute encounter.

Romero tossed 12 excellent sets to go along with two points while Janel Delerio registered 11 excellent receptions and nine excellent digs.

The Foxies dominated almost every category, converting 47 attacks compared to Capital1’s 26 while also putting up an 8-4 and 5-0 advantage in the blocks and service aces, respectively.
