Savannah Davison powered PLDT’s dominant sweep of Farm Fresh, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19, for back-to-back victories in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
Davison had a field day for the High Speed Hitters, unloading 26 points on 23 attacks and three blocks to go along with six excellent receptions as her squad jumped to solo third with a 6-3 win-loss record.
Mika Reyes, Erika Santos, and Majoy Baron all provided enough support for PLDT. Reyes registered 10 points on nine attacks and one ace, while Santos and Baron added nine and eight points, respectively.
“Happy naman na from the win last time, nagtutuloy-tuloy. Yung lesson lagi samin yung mawala yung complacency at saka maging mas maging consistent so happy kami na nagdeliver naman halos lahat kahit sinong iikot,” said High Speed Hitters head coach Rald Ricafort.
“So hopefully, madali namin sa next game. Medyo big game talaga, hindi pala medyo, big game talaga yung next game,” he added.
The Davison-led PLDT took control from the start, taking control by dominating all departments en route to dispatching the Foxies and cruising to a swift one-hour, 17-minute win.
The High Speed Hitters converted a total of 52 attacks, 23 of which came from the hard-hitting Davison, while Farm Fresh managed to get only 31. Their net defense played a key factor as well, with Baron and Davison combining for six of the team’s eight rejections, more than half of the Foxies tally of four.
PLDT will have a 10-day break before returning to action against defending champion Creamline on February 15, aiming for its third consecutive victory.
On the other hand, the Foxies, coming off a four-set victory over Galeries Tower, suffered its fifth loss to drop to 4-5 in the standings, still good for the ninth spot.
Tubu, coming off a career-high 33 points against the Highrisers, was limited to just nine points in the loss. Lorene Toring had five markers, while the troika of Rachel Daquis, Jolina Dela Cruz, and Riza Cruz had four apiece.
Farm Fresh eyes a bounce-back victory at the expense of the Cool Smashers as well on Tuesday.
