Pinoyliga: Bryan Sajonia delivers vs FEU, lifts San Beda to first win


Bryan Sajonia lifted San Beda University in his first meeting against his former team, Far Eastern University, with a come-from-behind 72-71 victory in Group Edge for their first win in the 2023 Pinoyliga Collegiate Cup on Tuesday at Enderun Colleges.

The former Tamaraw had an outstanding performance, recording a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds, along with three assists, six steals, and two blocks.

Bismarck Lina sealed the win for the Red Lions with a two-point floater in the final 12.17 seconds. He contributed 12 points, two rebounds, and seven assists.

Aljay Alloso and Zane Jalbuena also made contributions, scoring 10 and nine points respectively for San Beda.

On the other hand, Xyrus Torres led FEU with 13 points and four rebounds, while Cholo Annonuevo had 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Miguel Ona, Meinard Songcuya, and Baby Tamaraw Veejay Pre each scored eight points for the Tamaraws.

San Beda improved their record to 1-2, tying with College of St. Benilde. On the other hand, FEU dropped to an even 2-2 win-loss record.


In the second Group Edge game, Emilio Aguinaldo College dominated Enderun College with an 84-60 victory.

The Generals secured their fourth win in five games and claimed the top spot, just above the University of the Philippines. Meanwhile, the Titans suffered their fourth consecutive loss.

Dave Ednilag and Andrey Doria led EAC with 10 points each, with Ednilag adding seven rebounds. Gelo Loristo topped the boards for the Generals with 10 rebounds, in addition to his six points.

Ruzzelle Dominguez and King Gurtiza also contributed nine points apiece for EAC.

Hans Delos Reyes paced the Titans with 13 points, two steals, a rebound, and an assist, while Francis Guissani scored 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.


In the lone Group Prime battle, Shawn Umali powered Lyceum of the Philippines University to a 74-69 victory against San Sebastian College-Recoletos.

Umali led the Pirates, who leveled their record at 3-3, with a double-double, scoring 11 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and adding a steal and an assist. Gyle Montaño scored the most for Lyceum with 16 points, three rebounds, and two blocks.

John Barba and Enoch Valdez also contributed 12 points and seven rebounds each, with Barba adding four assists.

James Una led the way for the Golden Stags with a double-double of 17 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks. Tristan Felebrico narrowly missed a double-double, recording 12 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

Reggz Gabat also contributed 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists for San Sebastian, who fell to 3-2.
