PBA: Returning Mocon, Phoenix buck Maxwell’s ejection in rout of Terrafirma

Not even Du’Vaughn Maxwell’s ejection slowed down Phoenix Super LPG in dealing Terrafirma a crushing 125-100 beatdown towards returning to the PBA Governors’ Cup win column, Saturday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

The Fuel Masters lost their import at the 6:32-mark of the third quarter as he got assessed for an F1 against counterpart Jordan Williams, leading to his outright disqualification as he was already called for a technical foul prior.

He left with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists but his teammates made sure not to waste his efforts in giving the team a comfortable lead, which saw him spearhead an 11-0 run for a 47-32 lead in the second period.

The returning Javee Mocon joined hands with Sean Manganti in closing out the third canto strongly, and the rest of Phoenix would do their part in ending the team’s two-game slide for win no. 2 in the conference.

Jason Perkins led the locals with 14 points and seven rebounds. Mocon finished with 13 points, two rebounds, four assists, and a block in his first game of the tilt as he’s recovered from the removal of bone spurs on his right knee.

Encho Serrano made 12 points. RR Garcia tallied 11 points, while Manganti added 10 markers as all but two players fielded scored at least three.

Meanwhile, Juami Tiongson had 27 points to lead Terrafirma in the loss, who fell to 2-5 after suffering its third straight loss.

The second game of each PBA gameday is live-streamed on SMART Sports.
