The PBA will start welcoming virtual fans beginning Thursday, as public clamor persisted since the league resumed the season.
“Maraming fans ang tumawag at nagsasabing gusto nila manood ng games as virtual fans,” Commissioner Willie Marcial told PBA.ph
The league initially planned to accommodate fans starting Oct. 19, with the first week of the tournament dedicated to a trial run.
But that has been cut short as fans have expressed interest in becoming part of the unique experience of watching bubble games virtually.
On Wednesday night, the league took to Twitter to announce the exciting news. It also posted the mechanics for how fans can join.
The league said that it will post registration links across all of their social media pages, and instructions will be sent after a successful registration.
Fans will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Marcial said last Sunday that the league’s broadcast partner, TV5, told him that 250 fans could be accommodated every game.
Games on Thursday will feature NorthPort versus Phoenix at 4:00 p.m., followed by Ginebra’s clash with Blackwater at 6:45 p.m.
