National University-Dasmariñas dominated Biñan Tatak Gel in Game 2, 25-17, 25-18, 25-21, completing a flawless campaign in the 2025 Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association over the weekend at the Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite.
The Monarchs needed just over an hour to sweep Biñan in the best-of-three finale, finishing with an impressive 16-0 record in the MPVA, a league founded by MPBL chairman Manny Pacquiao.
NU-Dasma became the first team in three seasons to achieve a perfect record, an even more remarkable feat for a newcomer in the eight-club regional league.
Team captain Evangeline Alinsug and standout rookie Samantha Cantada led the charge with 13 points each, as NU-Dasma added the MPVA crown to its dynastic résumé, following three UAAP titles and a four-peat in the Shakey’s Super League.
Alexa Mata contributed eight points, while Natasza Bombita, Harlyn Serneche, and Chams Maaya added eight, six, and five points, respectively, cementing NU-Dasma’s status as arguably the country’s premier collegiate volleyball program under mentor Regine Diego.
Bombita, recognized for her consistent performance throughout all 16 games while the Monarchs rotated their ace players, was named the MPVA Season MVP in this league supported by Mikasa, Asics, Spurway Enterprise, Gerflor, Smart Communications, and XIV Apparel.
“It’s very unexpected po, as it’s a total team effort for us. Thank you for this award po,” said Bombita, who is expected to take on a larger role in the upcoming UAAP Season 88 after the graduation of NU’s core led by multi-titled Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon.
Other NU-Dasma players who made the elite team included Alinsug (First Best Outside Hitter), Abegail Pono (Best Setter), Shaira Mae Jardio (Best Libero), and Cantada (Best Homegrown Player), proving NU’s strength with or without their long-time power duo.
Biñan’s trio of Laika Tudlasan (Second Best Outside Hitter), Samantha Gabrielle Tira-tira (Second Best Middle Blocker), and Crisanta Servidad (Best Opposite Hitter) also earned recognition, alongside Quezon’s Zamantha Nolasco (First Best Middle Blocker).
Tudlasan stood out for the Lady Chiefs with 12 points, though Biñan, which consists of Arellano players, settled for their second consecutive silver medal after falling to the Quezon Tangerines in last season’s finale.
Quezon claimed the bronze medal following a 22-25, 25-11, 25-9, 25-18 victory over the Negros ICC Blue Hawks in the consolation match of the fast-rising regional tournament organized by the Volleyball Masters of the Philippines.
Nolasco and Rhea Mae Densing led the Tangerines with 18 points each, while Shahanna Lleses added 11 points, supported by the four-peat NCAA champions, the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers.
