No bad blood for Vargas after facing old team Pocari Sweat

Weeks after a news-making contract dispute, Bureau of Customs’ spiker Rosemarie Vargas proved that all is well between her and her old team, Pocari Sweat.

Vargas and Customs faced Pocari Sweat on Saturday night in a match that saw the Transformers lose in surprising fashion – a straight-sets defeat. The five-foot-ten opposite hitter from the Far Eastern University gave all the credit to the Lady Warriors.

“Maganda yung nilaro nila,” said Vargas moments after their match.

Vargas then iterated that there were no conflicts between her and Pocari Sweat.

“No. Hindi. Bago pa nung game, nag-usap kami [Pocari players] na walang personalan kasi mga kaibigan ko sila,” said Vargas.

Now that the issue can be considered a thing of the past, Vargas assured that all is well between the two camps, that no bad blood exists.

“Wala talaga. Pero dun sa mga nag-iisip, baka meron. Basta wala talaga.”

Now with five games as a Transformer, Vargas is relishing her stint with her new squad, thankful that she has been able to strut her stuff even more.

“Malaking difference kasi unang-una, hindi ako starting six. Pangalawa, hindi ako nagagamit kahit second stringer lang.

“Dito sa Customs, nailalabas ko kung anong meron ako,” she shared.

Regarding their loss, Vargas addressed the team’s communication, which she thinks became a major factor in their defeat, which sent Customs to a 3-2 slate.

“Siguro kailangan pa namin mag-adjust. Yung jelling kasi, kulang pa kami sa communication. Yun yung naging problema namin,” she quipped.

Vargas is hoping that they can face Pocari Sweat next time, either in the Semifinals or in the Finals, to be able to make up from their dismal showing.

“Kung may chance pa, sana makabawi kami.”
