NLEX brings in Ed Davis for PBA Comm’s Cup

NLEX has signed NBA veteran Ed Davis as the team’s import for the upcoming 2024-25 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Standing at 6-foot-9 and bringing over a decade of professional basketball experience, the 35-year-old Davis is expected to make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor.

“We’re thrilled to have Ed on board,” said Road Warriors head coach Jong Uichico. “He brings a wealth of experience and leadership that we believe will help us. We’re optimistic that he’ll be able to match up against the league’s top big men and make a huge difference in our campaign this conference.”

Davis, a University of North Carolina product, was selected as the 13th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors.

Davis began his professional career with the Toronto Raptors from 2010 to 2013. During his rookie year, he also had a stint with the Erie BayHawks in the NBA D-League (now G League).

In 2013, Davis joined the Memphis Grizzlies.

After a season with Memphis, he went to the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2014-15 season.

Davis then enjoyed a productive three-year tenure with the Portland Trail Blazers from 2015 to 2018. During his time in Portland, he became known for his strong rebounding and efficient play.

In 2018-19, Davis joined the Brooklyn Nets and, later on, the Utah Jazz for the 2019-20 season.

Davis spent the 2020-21 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and later joined the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2021-22 season.

After his NBA career, Davis’s journey took him internationally.

In 2023, he played for Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico before moving on to the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association.
