Nexplay EVOS punched its ticket to the lower bracket finals after edging out ONIC PH, 3-2, in the SIBOL Mobile Legends: Bang Bang National Team Selection powered by SMART, Saturday night.
Fighting for the crucial Lord midway into the 18th minute of the winner-take-all Game Five, Jeniel “Haze” Bata-anon’s Mathilda took out Ralph “Flick” Hamoy’s Paquito to kick-start the game-winning clash for Nexplay EVOS.
Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera (Yu Zhong) was able to catch Marius “Donut” Tan (Brody), but a counter-engage led by John Paul “H2wo” Salonga’s Hayabusa completed the five-man wipe for the win.
H2wo — who was rushed to the hospital yesterday – finished with seven kills and four assists against one death in the 18-9 win in 19 minutes and 54 seconds.
Nexplay EVOS will take on RSG PH for the last spot in the finals tomorrow.
Donut’s Wanwan continued to impress in the tournament. The rookie gold laner helped Nexplay EVOS grab an early 1-0 advantage against ONIC PH through a 10-4 win in 15 minutes and 38 seconds.
He finished with two kills and four assists, outplaying Marky “Markyyyyy” Capacio’s Clint which proved to be one of the key reasons in NXP’s victory. Aside from Donut’s performance, forcing ONIC PH to commit skills and spells also played a role in the win.
ONIC PH then leaned on Flick’s Fanny in the second match, tying the series at 1-all after a tight 13-12 win in 15 minutes and 14 seconds.
Flick completed a clean-up job down the bottom lane, and then the middle lane to help ONIC PH come back and secure the lord for the win. He finished with seven kills and four assists against one death.
Looking to put his team at match-point, Haze (Cecilion) delivered the much-needed damage in Nexplay EVOS’ 24-11 win.
The former SIBOL standout tore the enemy frontline, putting up a game-high 18 assists along with three kills and a death in the 20:33-minute match. Haze’s presence made it difficult for ONIC PH’s melee composition to position themselves in skirmishes.
After underperforming in the first three games, Markyyyyy came alive in the fourth to save ONIC PH from elimination. The former Work standout delivered three kills and two assists in the low-scoring 6-6 win in 14 minutes and 19 seconds.
