UAAP High School Table Tennis: UST sets sights on ‘golden double’ with perfect starts

University of Santo Tomas has made a strong start in its quest for a second consecutive “golden double” at the UAAP Season 87 High School Girls’ and Boys’ Table Tennis Tournaments, earning twin 2-0 win-loss records on Tuesday at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

The Junior Lady Paddlers kicked off their “three-peat” campaign in dominant fashion, securing 3-1 victories over Ateneo de Manila University and Adamson University.

Reigning MVP J-An Sanchez played a key role, sweeping both of her singles matches.

Sanchez delivered an impressive performance, dominating Ateneo’s Shannen Lupena with an 11-1, 11-4, 11-6 win, before finishing the day with a 11-9, 11-7, 11-8 victory over Adamson’s Mariel Robles.

This helped UST extend its win streak to 14 ties, dating back to the opening day of Season 86.

De La Salle Zobel and University of the East are tied for second place with 1-0 records, while UPIS sits in third place with a 1-1 record after splitting its opening-day matches.
