Jose Rizal University’s COVID-19 woes have yet to end.
After another series of tests on Friday, some Heavy Bombers still churned positive results for COVID-19 resulting in the postponement of their game against Arellano University on Sunday.
JRU, who has yet to play a game since October 7, still has two games left in their first round schedule in Season 98.
With the predicament one of its member teams is in, the league’s Management Committee is set to revise its guidelines regarding COVID-19 cases on Monday, according to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.
During the start of the season, the ruling was that student-athletes who test positive must undergo a seven-day quarantine before being re-tested.
Moreover, if a team has two or more cases, they have to postpone their scheduled games if it is within the quarantine period.
With the revised protocols, student-athletes will be allowed to take a re-test on the fifth day after testing positive. If he tests negative, he can return to his team.
Meanwhile, if the team has one or two student-athletes test positive, they would have to play their scheduled game without them. Postponement can only happen if they have three or more cases.
Besides JRU, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, and Arellano University have also experienced COVID-19 cases during the season. College of Saint Benilde, meanwhile, had to play without Migs Oczon when it took on Letran last September 23 due to being placed under protocols.
