It did not take 17 games for the College of Saint Benilde Blazers to pick up their first win in Season 93
The NCAA announced Tuesday evening that the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas’ 69-65 win against the Blazers has been overturned due to the uniform violation committed by the former.
“After extensive discussions and careful deliberation by the members of the Management Committee, any athlete whose playing uniform does not conform with the rules. First offense: Ineligible to participate in a given game/match,” read the the NCAA statement signed by NCAA Season 93 chairman Fr. Glynn Ortega and the rest of the participating schools.
“Therefore it is ruled that the players of the University of Perpetual Help Sytem DALTA in the seniors division are deemed ineligible to player in their game against the College of Saint Benilde held July 11, 2017 at the Filoil Flying V Centre.”
Based on the NCAA’s rules, a forfeited game will result in a 2-0 final score in the record books.
The Altas wore their dark jerseys for their game against the Blazers, instead of their light uniforms. The game’s tip-off was delayed for 43 minutes and Perpetual were assessed with only just one technical foul to start the game.
Saint Benilde are now 1-0 in the standings, matching their win total from last season, while Perpetual fall to 0-1.
