Flever Dignadice parts ways with Adamson, eyes NCAA move

Filipino-American guard Flever Dignadice has parted ways with Adamson University.

According to a highly placed source, Dignadice personally informed Soaring Falcons head coach Nash Racela of his decision, citing a desire to explore new opportunities — particularly in the NCAA.

The nephew of nine-time PBA champion Yves Dignadice, Flever committed to Adamson in 2021 after graduating from St. Genevieve High School in California.

Dignadice sat out UAAP Season 84 after taking college units at prep powerhouse Southern California Academy. His journey at Adamson, however, was riddled with challenges.

Ahead of Season 85, he suffered a broken nose and contracted measles just weeks before tip-off. Complications and delays in his surgery hampered his recovery, ultimately costing him a spot on the team’s final roster for the season.

He was once again excluded from the lineup in Season 86, but managed to make the cut for Season 87.

Unfortunately, opportunities remained scarce for the 6-foot-1 combo guard. He appeared in just 11 games throughout the season, averaging 0.91 points and 0.27 rebounds in only 1 minute and 44 seconds of playing time per outing.

The source close to Dignadice revealed that the 22-year-old, who turns 23 this July, is now eyeing a move to the NCAA. However, under league rules, he will be eligible for only one playing year, and must serve a one-year residency before suiting up in Season 102 next year — alongside meeting the league’s new 24-under age requirement.

A similar scenario would unfold if he opts to transfer to another UAAP school. He would have to sit out for a year and forfeit two years of eligibility.

“The goal is to give him the chance to showcase his skills,” the source said.

“He’s still chasing that dream of making it to the PBA.”
