Imus-Ivy Tuason Photography just lost one of its prized spikers in the ongoing Spikers’ Turf Open Conference in Louie Ramirez as he is set to focus on Perpetual Help’s NCAA Season 98 campaign.
AJAA Spikers head coach Sammy Acaylar bared the development after their win against Vanguard on Friday at Paco Arena, the second straight game Ramirez did not play.
“Actually, kinausap ako ng sports athletics coordinator namin na si Louie definitely hindi na talaga siya makakapaglaro sa Spikers’ Turf because of last February 11, nagkaroon ng NCAA eligibility (meeting),” shared Acaylar.
Another Altas in the lineup of Imus is Hero Austria but he, on the other hand, will focus on the men’s premier league organized by Sports Vision.
Austria is listed as a reserve in Perpetual Help’s roster for the NCAA men’s volleyball tournament set to open tomorrow, Saturday, at the San Andres Sports Complex.
“Hero can play sa Spikers’ Turf kasi he is a reserve sa Perpetual, si Louie lang talaga ang hindi pwede,” added Acaylar, who also handles Perpertual.
But Ramirez still helped the Altas even when Acaylar already knew that the former cannot suit up anymore for Imus-ITP.
The veteran mentor said that he used Ramirez as an opponent during their scrimmages in practice, knowing the open spiker is a force to be reckoned with.
“During our scrimmage, actually hindi ko na siya ginagamit. Ginamit ko na siya as kalaban para at least, syempre you know Louie malaking tulong sa amin so gumagawa kami ng set play na si Louie nasa kabila para madevelop yung iba kong players.”
