Kai Sotto’s best scoring output in the National Basketball League ended up as an L.
This as Adelaide suffered a heartbreaking 93-85 loss to Brisbane, Monday at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Aggressive was Sotto in the entire contest, wanting to end his rookie year with the 36ers strong.
Averaging just 6.4 points prior to this contest, the 7-foot-3 Filipino teenager produced a career-high 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 shooting from the stripe in just 17 minutes of action.
Sotto was the one who rallied the 36ers from a 69-56 deficit early in the final frame, trimming the lead down to 85-87 with 27 seconds left.
However, the Bullets had other plans.
Brisbane wasted precious time on the other end before Jason Cadee silenced the Adelaide crowd with a booming trey with nine seconds left for the dagger.
On the other end, Mojave King turned the ball over before Tanner Krebs knocked down another trey for good measure to give the Bullets their third win of the season against the 36ers.
Cadee, Lamar Patterson, and Tom Digbeu all had 15 points to lead Brisbane to its 10th win in 26 games. Deng Deng also chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds.
Adelaide, on the other hand, suffered its fourth straight loss to drop to 7-17 in the standings.
Mitch Mccarron got 17 points, six assists, and four rebounds as well for the 36ers while Daniel Johnson tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Adelaide will head to RAC Arena on Thursday to take on Perth.
